Currently Reading… Vol. 2

A week or so ago, I started a new blog series to share what I’m currently reading. After getting my library card in Boston, I’ve been reading nonstop. In just three weeks, I’ve finished 5 books and I don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon.

Before I share the books I’m currently reading, I wanted to share a quick review on a book that I just finished yesterday. The book, ‘Behold the Dreamers’ by Imbolo Mbue, was recommended to me by a few different people and now I know why. By the time I had finished the first page, I was already hooked. The book tells the story of an African man who immigrates to New York City along with his wife and 6 year old son. With a work permit, the man lands a job as a chauffeur with a wealthy Wall Street family and in each ride around the city, he learns more about who these people are and what their life is like. I don’t want to share too much, but the book was extremely eye-opening as to what the immigration process is like. It’s also a very honest representation of America from a different perspective. I highly recommend getting ahold of this book. I loved it so much that I finished it in two days.

Okay, now onto what I’m currently reading. I actually haven’t started any of these books because I just picked them up from the library yesterday, but I figured I’d share a few that caught my attention. I’ll be sure to share my favorites and least favorites once I’ve finished.

All We Ever Wanted by Emily Giffin

The London Restoration by Rachel McMillan

A Paris Apartment by Michelle Gable

Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
