Surprise!! We’re Moving!

Surprise! Anthony and I are MOVING!

Let’s rewind a few months… Around January 2020, both Anthony and I were living in New Jersey (separately) and commuting into NYC everyday. He was working in sports advertising sales and I did social media/editorial work for a brand in the wedding industry. We both had jobs we enjoyed, but looking ahead we knew at some point we’d want to be living in New England. He’s originally from New Jersey, but after frequent trips throughout college to visit me on the Cape, we decided Boston would be a fun, new place to explore together. We talked about moving to Boston here and there, but never really made any decisions, because like I said, we both had jobs in NYC that we loved.

Fast forward to March, everything changed. Due to COVID-19, I began working from home on March 9th and shortly after that, Anthony was also working from home. Thinking we’d be working remotely for a week or two (yup, nobody had a CLUE back then), we decided to work remotely from somewhere where we had more space to do so. (My little one-bedroom without a desk apartment wasn’t going to cut it, and neither was Anthony’s home seeing as he has a big family). SO, we flew to South Carolina for 10 days to work remotely at my dad’s house. On our first day of remote work there, Ant was laid off. So yes, this did end up feeling like a little vacation…. For HIM at least!

When it was time for us to head back to New Jersey, we decided to fly to Massachusetts and temporarily “live” at the house I grew up in on the Cape. I realized I’d be working remotely much longer (my company told us the earliest we’d be back in office would be October) so we figured if we’re going to be anywhere, we might as well be on Cape Cod and in a house where we have space to live and work. If you haven’t caught on yet, YES, New Jersey & NYC apartments are THAT tiny.

Ant was applying to jobs left and right in almost any location. He figured the first few months of any job would be remote anyways, so it didn’t really matter where the company was located. Luckily, within a few weeks, he was hired at a company that’s located right outside of Boston. He’s working remotely and loves the company and what he’s doing, which is so wonderful!

Now, we’re in July. Still living on the Cape with my mom which has been such a blessing for ALL of us! (I think?) 🤣 It’s been so nice to go to the beach on the weekends, walk through my neighborhood each day, and have a space to actually work.

WELL, last week there was a shift in schedules. Due to COVID-19, I was laid off from my job. Surprisingly, I’m not too down about it. I’ve been doing a lot of freelance social media work for two different brands, and of course my blog has financial opportunity. So, thank you in ADVANCE for supporting all of my upcoming blog posts and social media platforms, as well as shopping through links that I share. My lease in New Jersey was up in May and Ant and I had already moved my stuff out. His job is here, my family is here, we’re here right now, so we decided to make the switch now. Besides Ant’s family in New Jersey, we don’t have anything holding us down in that area anymore. Of course we’ll be frequent visitors once this is all over, but for now, we’re both ready for a fresh start.

Our Kitchen Window View Overlooking a Park

SO, after a few weeks of apartment hunting, we FINALLY found our dream apartment. It’s in the city, but in a quiet area. It’s right by the water, our kitchen window overlooks a park, and the cabinets are white (something that was a must for me). 🤣

We’ve already moved in the majority of our kitchen supplies and even some furniture, but there’s still a little more to go. We’re hoping to move in by late next week, but of course we’re in no rush to leave the Cape. We’re both so thankful to have been able to find a little place to call home in Boston and of course, I am so excited about being back in New England.

Our new neighborhood!

Get ready for blog posts sharing my apartment inspiration, an apartment tour YouTube video, and lots of Boston blog posts!

Until next time!
