October in Beacon Hill

The election is rapidly approaching and Halloween is near. October flew by and I have to say, I wish it would stay a bit longer. The first half of the month still felt like September. Most days were around 70° and the trees were still green up until about a week ago. Within the last week or so, it feels like October “bloomed.” The foliage around Boston is beautiful, there’s a pumpkin by the door of almost every apartment, and the temperatures are finally dropping.

Beacon Hill is known to have some of the prettiest, spookiest decorations this time of the year. All season I’ve been wanting to go walk around, but it just didn’t seem “fall” enough. But yesterday, my weather app read, “Feels like 38°,” so I knew it was the perfect day to walk around Beacon Hill. Anthony and I went to the Beacon Hill Starbucks to begin our little “Sunday morning exploration” with a warm beverage. For me, hot black coffee with toffee nut flavor and for him, a hot green tea with honey. Soon, we were walking up and down each neighborhood in awe of the creativity some people have with their Halloween decor.

It was such a quiet Sunday morning. Arriving earlier than 9am was perfect because there weren’t many people out and about yet. I’d say in total, we passed less than 10 people. And many of them were just watering their mums, walking their dogs, or pushing a stroller around. We also walked by Boston’s most famous street, Acorn Street. It’s one of the most photographed streets in the city and I can see why. It’s absolutely stunning.

After a morning full of sightseeing fall decorations, we decided to walk over to the Boston Public Garden. The trees had finally “popped” and some of the photos look photoshopped. The colors of the leaves are stunning.

Cheers to soaking up the rest of October. While I wish it would last just a few more weeks, I’m looking forward to embracing the joy that comes with November. Happy Monday, friends!
