The Holiday Season in NYC

Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree in December 2021

If you follow along on Instagram, you’ll know Anthony and I spend the last week in New York City. Originally, we had planned this trip to visit his family in New Jersey for the holiday season as well get our “fix” in of all-things Christmas in NYC: ice skating, maybe seeing a broadway show or the Rockettes, seeing the Christmas tree, grabbing a drink at festive restaurants, etc..

Due to rising cases of COVID-19, we changed our plans throughout the week. After one meal out at my absolute favorite place, Bubby’s, we decided it would be best to cancel the reservations we had made and order takeout for the rest of the week. We spent quite a few nights in our hotel room eating our takeout dinner and watching whatever the hotel TV had on – I think we watched Home Alone and The Santa Clause like 5 times.

Luckily, most of the activities that we wanted to do were outdoors. We were still able to see the Rockefeller Christmas Tree, go ice skating at Bryant Park (they were strict about wearing masks even though it’s an outdoor rink, so we felt comfortable the whole time), and we lit a candle inside of St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Although most days were spent getting fresh air or watching movies in our hotel room, we were thrilled with how relaxing the trip ended up being.

We’ve been back in Boston for a few days now and have both been taking rapid COVID tests every other day just to be safe: so far, so good!
