Weekend Recap 6.7.21

Typically, Memorial Day Weekend is our kick-off to summer… but, the weather was horrible this year. It was cold and rainy all weekend long. So, when I saw sunny skies and 80°+ weather in the forecast for this past weekend, I was thrilled.

On Friday, our three friends from New Jersey made the drive up to the Cape for the weekend. Saturday was Ant’s 25th birthday, which made it that much more exciting to have our friends in town for a few days. We hadn’t seen them since pre-COVID and it felt so normal to see people again!

Saturday, more “local” friends came over and we spent the whole day by the pool, eating typical “cookout food,” and had a bonfire at night while we watched the Bruins game.

Before our out-of-state friends left from the Cape on Sunday, we went to an early lunch at Fishermen’s View in Sandwich, MA. After all, you can’t come to the Cape for the weekend and not have some sort of seafood. All five of us ordered a lobster roll (2 warm with butter, 3 cold with mayo) and a few more apps to split. And of course, once we finished lunch, they made a final stop at Twin Acres Ice Cream (I worked there from age 14-19!) for a final road-trip treat.

Once they left and were on the road back to New Jersey, Ant and I went back to spend the sunny Sunday by the pool. Once we felt sun-filled and satisfied with our Vitamin D level (😉), we decided to meet my mom and Gary at Wequassett for dinner and drinks.

It was the perfect way to end Ant’s birthday weekend on Cape Cod.
