Fall Classics on a Budget

It’s no secret that many of the brands that carry classic, preppier styles are usually more expensive. Mainly because most people shopping for classic styles are willing to pay more for quality. I know personally, I prefer buying a few sweaters from a higher-end brand rather than buying trendy pieces that may or may not last me until next year. Sometimes it’s better to think of fashion as an investment. But, it’s also important to remember there are platforms like thredUP where you can still purchase high-quality pieces from brands you love, for almost a fraction of the price. I’ve shared my love for thredUP on here before, but lately I’ve been loving it more and more. I find it so easy to shop! You can adjust the filter and shop based on brand, size, and price. For ex, if you know you want a new jacket you could select “North Face or Patagonia, size M, and under $100” and anything available will appear. It seriously makes shopping too easy.

This fall, I’m stocking up on all of the basics from thredUP. One of my favorite pieces thrifted from thredUP this season has been the plaid skirt pictured above. It’s from Gap and the estimated retail price is $50. I found it for $14.99! I knew I wanted a casual plaid skirt for the fall, so I just typed in “plaid skirt” on thredUP, inserted my sizes and a few brands I like (J. Crew, Loft, GAP) and this one popped up! I absolutely love it.

Another one of my favorite thredUP purchases was this cozy vest (pictured above, on the right.) Again, I went on thredUP knowing that I wanted a vest I could wear all fall and winter. When I found this Old Navy one, I was so excited! It has the chestnut-colored lining on the zipper, pockets, and where your arms come out. This vest had an estimated retail price of $50 and I found it for $25.99. Again, such a steal for something I know I’ll be wearing for years to come. While this Dooney & Bourke crossbody bag isn’t from thredUP, it is thrifted! I felt so lucky when I found it for $14 at a local thrift store on Cape Cod. But, I will say, thredUP does have a great selection of designer handbags including quite a few from Dooney & Bourke.

If you do choose to shop on thredUP, let me know what you find! And, if you need any help navigating the site, I’m happy to help. Just reach out! I hope you enjoy shopping on a budget and saving money by thrifting.
