Q&A | Vol. 2

After sharing my very first Q&A blog post in 2020, it’s been one of the most popular search terms on my blog. Looking back on that post, I cannot believe we had just moved to Boston. Part of me feels like we’ve lived here forever and the other half of me is still in the honeymoon phase with our apartment and our move to Boston.. LOL 🤣

I left a question box on my Instagram story last week, so here’s a round up of some questions submitted. Feel free to drop any additional questions in the comments section.. I’m always happy to answer them!

How did you start your blog?

I started in December 2017 when I was a junior in college. I was working at the PR and Marketing Department for Seton Hall and I was commuting into NYC 2x/week for a marketing internship. I remember people were telling me, “Keep track of all of the projects you work on. They’ll come in handy when you apply for jobs.” So, I created a website (yes, you’re here now!) where I originally planned to share my resume, portfolio, and hoped that it would be something that would make me stand out when I applied for jobs.

WELL, after creating the website I wasn’t satisfied with just a simple portfolio of my work. I wanted to include my love for fashion, so I began taking photos and blogging, and I’ve never looked back. 21-year-old me would be so happy I’m still writing. 😊

What are some of your favorite bars and restaurants?

I assume the person who asked this question wanted my favorite restaurants and bars in Boston, so that’s what I’m going with. Honestly, I haven’t been to a ton of bars due to the pandemic, but some of my favorite restaurants (most of them have a bar) are below.

Monument Restaurant and Tavern

My best friend lives in Charlestown and this is one of my favorite spots she’s introduced me to. Their menu is incredible (both for brunch and dinner) and it’s a fun atmosphere to grab a drink at night. I get the same cocktail every single time: The McAVOY.

Stephanie’s On Newbury

Probably one of the more popular restaurants in Boston, but it’s always good. I haven’t had a bad experience there yet.

Tresca

Another really popular restaurant in the North End, but definitely not overrated. As of right now, Tresca has my favorite espresso martini in all of Boston!

Rosa’s Mexicano

Really, really good Mexican food. If you order chips and guac, they make the guac in front of you! I also love the Red Chile Chicken tacos and the Crispy Shrimp Tempura tacos (but heads up, these are super spicy!). Also a plus, they have the best frozen margs. It’s really dim-lit and feels more like a nighttime location, but I definitely recommend sitting outside in the warmer months.

A few others that we love: Joe’s Waterfront, Beehive Restaurant (great jazz music!), Tia’s (great for frozen drinks and a casual, summer atmosphere), the Sail Loft, and Alcove

Can you explain more of what your day-to-day looks like as a freelancer? What do you actually do?

I get this question at least once per day. 🤣  Basically I have a few clients who I assist with content writing, dynamic social media content creation, and digital marketing. My day-to-day will never look the same because I’m always working on different projects.

I’m happy to share some of those projects, though! I currently assist a few different brands with their website content (blog posts and copywriting), I’m working BTS on the development of a podcast, and a few brands have me manage their social media platforms.

Freelancing can look different for everyone, but that’s just a bit of insight as to what it looks like for me. Shameless plug: tap here to get in touch if you’re in need of assistance!

When will we get an apartment tour?

SOON, I promise. We just revamped our whole living room and have a few adjustments to make in our kitchen. Once those are complete, I’ll be ready to share our apartment.

Favorite thing to bake?

Ooh, this is hard. During the holiday season, I was making a lot of cookies. But I think my favorite thing to bake is a cake? I love the decorating process.

I remember you started needlepointing.. Any finished products?

I’m still in the very beginner stage of needlepointing 🤣 I love it so much, but I’m not a pro yet. I’m taking the first few canvases I complete and considering them a trial. When I finish something I’m proud of, I’ll absolutely share.
